QUOTE # 6 - TIME TO TURN OUT THE LIGHTS
"When you stop giving, when you stop offering something to someone, it's time to turn out the light." George Burns
Got rid of all my dark chocolate mint cake balls today & they seemed to be a hit. Next batch - strawberry cake w/cream cheese icing dipped in chocolate. Stay tuned. Trying to figure out how I can make money baking - a website, a stand at the Farmers Market, selling to restaurants, having my own wine & chocolate cafe???? Who knows what the future holds.
Shoveled for almost an hour this a.m. & it felt good. Saw a good friend tonight that always makes me smile & then listened to a great piano player & singer w/a glass of wine & a salad & laughed some more w/another good friend. My life is good beyond words. I used to have the big house, the stuff, the money to do the things I wanted to do. I have had to scale back for a number of personal reasons & I've never been happier.
OK I know i've said this before but will be starting my morning gym workouts on Monday! You can hold me to that along w/an intence 4 week commitment to starving, I mean eating lots of green leafy stuff & not much else. I'm going to get this almost 50 (I'm 48) body's metabolism jump started. Please remember that I mentioned in my first blog that I have know idea about how to do all this but that's why I asked you to join me - so you can send me down the right path to a healthier me. Time to say good night to the piano man and turn off the lights! Thanks for checking in.

Balance, Mom!!! All green and leafy will quickly lead to gorging on everything NOT green and leafy. Have you ever seen those magnets with the different color veggies? Try to eat lots of different colors, and not all green and leafy. Try some eggplants (I like the Japanese ones that are long and skinny cuz you can slice them small and not get that awful texture), carrots, edamame, corn, onions (I know you love those), apples, bananas, strawberries, raspberries, pears, whatever's on sale this week, eat that if it's from the produce section. If you can do that, you won't need an intense four week anything - just healthy eating habits that will, with any luck, last forever, and easily.
ReplyDeleteNow regarding making money baking. You said your dream was to open a chocolate and wine bar. If that's your dream, then that's how you should make your money baking. Remember that someone once said that if you do what you love you'll never work a day in your life. So whatever you love, that's probably a good indicator of the direction you oughtta go in.
Love you and I'll be calling on Monday to see how the gym went. :)
I just read that paragraph twice and I am happy for you , because you say that you have never been happier ! Your commitment to a 4 week diet of only green veggies sort of worries me because I have always been under the impression that no "Diet" really works and what is gonna happen after the 4 weeks ? Is that the ONLY type of food that you plan on eating FOREVER ? Eventually , you are gonna begin to MISS and CRAVE everything that you really enjoy partaking and when you go off the wagon you gotta be careful not to over indulge and ruin any prior success !!! Becky , the exercise step is a GREAT idea but why do you have to go "full throttle" right away with the eating part of this plan ? Can't you gradually moderate your intake of certain types of food and avoid the pressure that you put on yourself by "starving" ???

I think Britt says it all... balance. Not that I DO it, I do know what to do... Even the apostle Paul said "those things that I want to do I do not do and those things that I don't want to do, that is what I do" YIKES!
ReplyDeleteAnd just how many jobs can one have? Don't burn yourself out! Listen to that sweet daughter of yours and truly be true to yourself. There is a destiny for you! and it is GOOD!
